The German University of Technology in Oman hosted the “Mahwar” Engineering Festival, organised by the Engineering Society, with the presence of Her Excellency Professor Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation. She was welcomed by Honourable Dr Hussein bin Suleiman Al Salmi, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, along with officials, academics, and engineering enthusiasts.
The festival attracted participants from universities, colleges, and schools, serving as a platform for students, academics, and entrepreneurs to showcase innovative projects and exchange expertise. It featured an exhibition of over 30 engineering projects in civil, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering, highlighting advancements in the field.
Her Excellency praised the high standard of projects and the student’s efforts in developing innovative solutions aligned with market needs. She emphasised the role of such events in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among Omani youth.
Dr Al Salmi reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering creativity and practical learning. The festival also strengthened industry-academia collaboration, supporting Oman Vision 2040’s goals of a knowledge-based economy.
Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to present their work, enhance their skills, and connect with industry experts, reinforcing the university’s role in advancing engineering and technology in the region.
