Deciding on a university is an important step for students and their families. The following sections should help you and your family decide if GUtech is right for you.

As the only German University in the Gulf region, the German University of Technology in Oman is a unique institution, combining the German excellence in science and technology and with a firm grounding in Oman’s culture and heritage. As a young and innovative university with about 2500 students, GUtech is able to deliver an education that incorporates theory and practice in an individualised setting. Guided by our highly qualified international academic staff, GUtech students not only learn the theory, they apply and extend what they learn in the classroom in current, hands-on projects with real-life application, exemplifying the Humboldt ideal of a holistic education.

Rooted in Omani tradition and driven by German quality standards, GUtech has an inherently international outlook. Our students, faculty, and staff hail from arround 24 different countries across the globe and at least as many different mother tongues can be heard on campus. Students are encouraged to take advantage of our international exchange agreements to gain international experience, especially through our DAAD funded programmes at RWTH Aachen University including short stays for summer schools or faculty led excursions or long-term stays to write the Bachelor thesis in Aachen, Internship in Germany or enrol in a consecutive Master’s programme there.

GUtech is recognised nationally by the Omani Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI), Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation (OAAA),  and has achieved overseas accreditation by the German Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance Institute (ACQUIN), ensuring that our graduates’ degrees enable them to pursue careers and further education wherever they choose to go next.

Our current international students and alumni are our best ambassadors.
